Welcome Message from the Dean

Welcome to the Auburn University School of Nursing Web page. The faculty, staff and I are pleased that you have chosen to learn more about the dynamic field of professional nursing and our school.

Nursing is a wonderfully diverse and exciting profession dealing with pivotal events in the lives of people. It is an intellectual discipline requiring the exercise of critical judgment and knowledge combined with compassion and caring. Nurses engage with people in many settings, ranging from clinics to home to hospitals, carrying out responsibilities including teaching, advocacy, coordination, direct patient care, and collaboration. Often nurses are the only health care professionals who have a grasp of the whole situation affecting the person, and thus can profoundly influence the outcomes of health care.
