Constitution of The Auburn Association of Student Social Workers

Article 1: Name
The name of this organization shall be the Auburn Association of Student Social Workers (AASSW).
Article 2: Goals
The goals of the Social Work Club of Auburn University are:
- To promote interest in and support for the Social Work Program at Auburn University.
- To provide opportunities for interaction between students, faculty, and social work practitioners through planned programs provided at club meetings and community service projects.
- To provide opportunities to participate in community service activities.
Article 3: Membership
Membership shall be open to all students interested in social work/social services.
Article 4: Officers
The officers of the organization shall consist of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Membership Chairperson/Treasurer, and Public Relations Chairpersons. Other officers may be elected or appointed as determined necessary by the membership. All officers must be social work majors
A. 1. The duties of the President shall be to preside at all meetings of the Club and all meetings of the Executive Committee. The President is expected to assist in implementing all programs, events, and activities of the Club.
A. 2. The duties of the Vice President shall be to fulfill the duties
of the President when the President is unable to do so.
The Vice President will work with the President in planning programs
for all Club members.
A. 3. The duties of the Secretary are to keep records of the Club's
activities, and to maintain correspondence as requested by the President
and or Sponsor.
A. 4. The duties of the Public Relations Chairpersons are to coordinate announcement/publishing of meetings and other Social Work Club activities. He/She is also responsible for posting the minutes for each meeting on the bulletin board and the list serve. When possible, there should be two persons to fill this position.
A. 5. The duties of the Membership Chairperson/Treasurer are to be responsible for encouraging membership in the Club and maintaining financial records.
B. 1. Together, the officers and the faculty sponsor shall form the Executive Committee. This Committee shall be responsible for planning the activities of the Club.
C. 1. The Executive Committee shall form a proposed slate of officers in September for vote by the membership in October.
C. 2. The time and place of the election shall be publicly announced in advance of said election. The proposed slate of officers shall be presented to the membership for vote in October. Newly elected officers shall be trained during the remainder of the Fall Semester and take office at the beginning of the Spring Semester.
C. 3. If any officer other than President is not able to complete his/her term, the President shall have the authority to appoint a substitute, if that is desired by the majority of the remaining Executive Committee. The substitute would serve until the next scheduled election. If the President is not able to complete his/her term, the remaining Executive Committee, by majority, shall have the authority to appoint a replacement who would serve until the next scheduled election.
D. 1. Any officer can be removed from office for failure to perform his/her duties. Such removal may take place only after the individual in question has been notified that an Executive Committee vote is to be proposed for that purpose. If the accused wished, he/she may attend the Executive Committee meeting in order to defend himself/herself. If the accused finds the time of the Committee meeting inconvenient, he/she may request a change of time, and that request shall be honored at least once. Removal from office shall occur upon the majority vote (except the accused) of all the Executive Committee members present, after all have been notified in advance of the time and purpose of the meeting.
ARTICLE 5: Dues
Dues can be paid at any time during the academic year, but are only good for that year.
ARTICLE 6: Amendments
This constitution may be amended at any regular meeting by a three-fifths majority of members.
