Denise Davis-Maye

Dr. Denise Davis-Maye, a licensed clinical social worker, is a native of Harlem , New York . She is currently an Assistant Professor with the Social Work Program in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work at Auburn University . With over 16 years of experience in Social Work practice, Dr. Davis-Maye is an alumna of Clark Atlanta University . She completed graduate work at Hunter College of the City University of New York, and the University of Alabama . She has studied reproductive health issues of Ugandan adolescents and the psychosocial development of African-American children. Her research interests include the cultural, community and familial impact on the emotional development of adolescent girls of African descent, the contributions of African-American Women to the Social Welfare history of the United States , and Factors contributing the general well-being of African-American families. Dr. Davis-Maye has taught Human Behavior in the Social Environment, Practice Issues with the Black Family, Social Welfare History, Introduction to Social Work, and Practice Methods with Groups and Families.
