Public participation training now available in Spanish
The International
Association for Public Participation (IAP2) now offers its
certificate course in public participation in Spanish. The
three-module training focuses on the principles of effective citizen
engagement, including planning, communications and techniques. The
course prepares those responsible for involving the public in a
decision-making process to carry out this task in an ethical,
meaningful manner. Those who successfully complete the five-day
training receive a certificate from IAP2.
Available in
English since 1999, these courses have received international
recognition for both the quality of the content and the dynamic way
in which the ideas are conveyed. The Spanish translation of the
training is part of IAP2’s new Latin American initiative, a program
designed to establish closer links between public participation
specialists in the Americas. A French version of the certificate
program is currently being developed and is expected to be presented
at IAP2’s annual conference in Montreal, Quebec in November 2006.
