"Congratulations! I am pleased to inform you that your program's application for associate undergraduate membership in AUPHA has been approved by the membership of AUPHA. This is effective immediately and entitles your program to participate in all AUPHA activities. Your program may hold associate undergraduate membership for up to four years, and you may apply to advance to full undergraduate memberhip any time after you have held your membership for one year. We hope that you and your faculty take full advantage of these benefits!"
What a great early Christmas present for all of us!
On November 28th, Ms. Helton will be conducting an evening meeting to provide information on National Healthcare and meet interested HA students at 6:30 p.m. in Room H of the Conference Center (across from the RDB Library). Bring your resume'! She has a
lso scheduled interviews through the Placement Service for November 28, but most of these have already been filled. Unless you're scheduled for an interview on the 28th, take advantage of the meeting the previous evening if you're interested.
Thanks to all faculty, students, and alums who supported and participated

Burns Re-Elected Program Director
The Department of Political Science, parent entity of our program, recently changed all its program chiefs from a system of appointment to a system of election for three-year terms. Faculty voting on the HA Directorship re-elected Dr. Mark Burns, with no
opposition.

AUPHA Application Successful!
Anne Ernst, Membership Director for the Association of University
Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA), has informed Dr. Burns that
our application for Associate (first-stage) Membership has been approved.
Details will be forthcoming by mail.October 24, 1995
Perry Receives Hudson Professorship.
Dr. Clifton Perry, who teaches
our Health Law class, as well as the Ethics in the Health Sciences course
taken by many of our students, has been named J.D. Hudson Professor of
Philosophy and Medical Ethics. Dr . Perry, the author of numerous
articles on medical ethics, and the recipient of many previous awards for
excellence in teaching, has been an Auburn faculty member since 1984.
Congratulations, Dr. Perry!
PO6xx Postponed.
PO6xx, a proposed
graduate course in health policy, is still under consideration for
development but will not be offered during the current academic
year due to resource constraints.

The following arrangements will be made in regard to Dr. Burns's advising:
Dr. Burns will be available in his office, HC 7094, only on the following days:
If you feel you will need to see Dr. Burns before these special advising days, please contact him before the close of Spring quarter.
All regular advising normally done by Dr. Burns, including pre-counselling/scheduling of internships, will be handled by Dr. Ford, Dr. McEldowney, and Dr. Bernstein.
Dr. Burns will resume normal advising duties Winter of 1996.
If you need HA510 before Spring of 1996 in order to graduate, please see
your adviser. Appropriate subsitutions will be made for students in this
situation.
The same data also reports that, since its creation in 1971, the Program
has graduated 324 students with a health administration major, plus an
additional 43 students under the old pre-hospital administration curriculum
with a
different subject matter major (economics, political science, etc.)

Institutional Analysis Says HA Enrollment now at 111
The latest data from Auburn's Office of Institutional Analysis reports
that our enrollment is now at 111 full-time students. In addition, there
are 11 part-time HA students.Scheduling Decision Coming Soon
Final decisions about scheduling for the Spring and Summer quarters
should be in place by about the middle of next week. Watch this
newsline for further announcements.
Note: Since the two foregoing stories represented the first items to
appear in an HA Newsline, there are no stories for 1995 earlier than
May.
