Focus
Students interested in pursuing a more directed course of study should consider focusing their course work in one of five major sub-fields within English studies:
- Creative Writing
- Linguistics and Rhetoric
- Literature
- Technical and Professional Communication
The Minor in Technical and Professional Communication (ETPC) is designed to provide students with experience in project development and management, information design, manual writing and editing, computer-aided writing and publishing, oral presentations, and empirical research. - Individually Designed Concentration
English Minors can use the Individually Designed Concentration in the same way that English Majors do. Say, for instance, you are a history major with an interest in the nineteenth century. You could, with the help of your advisor, put together a minor in British and American Literature of that period.
Remember, the Minor option exists to accommodate your needs as a student. Speak to an advisor to help you determine the course of study that best matches those needs.
