English Department Freshman Scholarships

The English Department will be awarding TWO scholarships to incoming Freshmen who plan to major in English. Each award will be valued at $2000. To be considered for one of these scholarships, a student must have a 3.5 high school grade point average or higher and a minimum ACT score of 30 (or an equivalent SAT score of 1340). The student should be accepted for admission by 1 December. Students who wish to apply should submit a resume and a cover letter which should address: high school record and standardized test scores. It should also answer the questions of what draws them to study English and why they should be considered for this scholarship. The scholarship committee may request additional information, such as letters of recommendation. These materials should be sent only when requested.
