Department Awards Ceremony to be Held April 20
The English Department awards ceremony will be held April 20 at 3 p.m. at the Alumni Center. This ceremony recognizes English Department scholarship recipients, graduate and undergraduate recipients of writing awards, and outstanding teachers. Inductees into Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honorary society, and Phi Beta Kappa are also honored. Everyone is encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served.
Faculty and Students to Present at SECOL 74
Tom Nunnally, Min Hu, Lee Eubanks, Michael Sinnott, Emma Mulvaney, Elizabeth M. Jones, alumnus Daniel Hasty, and Robin Sabino will be traveling to Northwestern State University to present papers in SECOL 74: The Seventy-Fourth Meeting of the South Eastern Conference on Linguistics, April 12-14, 2007. Beth Topping and Boyu Lui will also be attendng.
Elizabeth Jones Receives University of South Alabama's Outstanding Master's Thesis Award
Elizabeth Jones received the University of South Alabama's 2006-07 Outstanding Master's Thesis award for " Reading Renaissance: The Invisible Other as Modern Muse in the Works of John Millington Synge and Jean Toomer” during the USA Research forum on March 28. Her committee chair was Dr. Ellen Harrington. Her thesis was chosen out of 70 other theses submitted during the year. She received her MA in August 2006 and is a first year Ph.D. student in the department.
Emma Bolden's Chapbook Accepted for Publication
Emma Bolden's chapbook has been accepted for publication by Toadlily Press as part of their Quartet Series. The Quartet Series prints four chapbooks by four different poets together in one collection -- which Molly Peacock called a "dashing new concept for a book of poems." The book will be published in August.

There will be a faculty meeting today at 3:00 p.m. in HC 3104.
