Newsworthy: Undergraduate English Majors Awarded College of Liberal Arts ScholarshipsCaroline, Aubie, and Bonnie
Two undergraduate English majors, Bonnie Jean Shamp and Caroline Wilkinson, were awarded College of Liberal Arts $2,200 scholarships in September 2004.

The Department congratulates these two for their hard work and dedication to the program.

Bonnie Jean Shamp, sophomore, graduated from Auburn High School and enjoys studying English because for her, "to study English is to study the important questions of life: how to live, how to love, how to embrace the human condition in its folly and frailty while ever searching for the divine."

Caroline Wilkinson, also a sophomore and Auburn High School graduate, will receive a minor in History. She is involved in Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Eta Sigma, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, College of Democrats, and Alpha Delta Pi. Caroline would like to go to Caroline and Bonnie with their parents and Dean Ansell graduate school and become a professor or writer.

The College of Liberal Arts annual Scholarship Scramble Golf Tournament funded the awards. The English Department this year was represented by George Crandell, Betsy Smith, Tim Dykstal, and Keith Gibson.
