• Make extra copies of vita, abstract, and teaching packet for MLA.
• Revise the essay you will present if asked for a campus interview.
• Study web sites and catalogs of schools that are interviewing you at MLA.
• Prepare a list of questions to ask of each school's interviewer(s).
• Make sure that interested schools know how to contact you over the holidays.
• Pre-register for MLA if you think you might have an interview (your registration fee can be refunded until December 25 and your hotel reservations can be canceled with 72 hours notice).
• Anticipate interviews at MLA. Calls can come up to the last minute—stay near the phone or in touch with your answering machine. Leave an hour between interviews—they are likely to be in different hotels.
• Go to MLA. Attend session for job-seekers held the first night, and check with the Job Service Center for locations of interviews.
