Kimberly McGhee’s dissertation relied on/developed a theory
of melancholy and the gaze and used it to read film, by Bergman and
Tarkovsky and novel, by Morrison and Dostoevsky. Her research and
teaching interests include film, twentieth-century comparative literature
(especially Russian and French), critical theory, and anthropological
approaches to literature.
McGhee has taught introductory and upper-level film courses, English and American surveys, twentieth-century literature in English, world literature, in addition to composition. She currently teaches World Literature I and II and the composition sequence (ENGL 1100 and 1120).
