Peter Huggins received his MFA from the University of Alabama. A poet and writer of fiction for children, he has published three books of poems, Necessary Acts (2004), Blue Angels (2001), and Hard Facts (1998), and a picture book, Trosclair and the Alligator (2006). A novel for middle grade readers, In the Company of Owls, is forthcoming in Spring 2007 from NewSouth Books.
He was awarded a literature fellowship in poetry from the Alabama State Council on the Arts for 2006.
He has been President of the Board of the Alabama Writers' Forum and is a member of the Society of Children' Book Writers and Illustrators.
He has won an Instructor Teaching Award and was named an Outstanding Professor, Auburn University Panhellenic Council.
