To major or minor in English Studies is to pursue some of the most vital skills
in the humanities and liberal arts tradition. English
Studies includes the study of literature, creative writing
in both fiction and poetry, linguistics and rhetoric,
and technical and professional communication.
The English Department consists of a diverse group of
intellectually engaged people--faculty, graduate students,
and undergraduate English majors and minors--united in
