SUMMER 2012 MANDATORY NEW, TRANSFER AND RETURNING STUDENT'S ORIENTATION PROGRAM AND ACTIVITIES
- Orientation for summer is held
with Fall Orientation on August 2, 2012.

Check in begins no more than
30 days before the start date on your I-20. You must Notify
the signer of your I-20 via e-mail
intledu@auburn.edu or
Fax (1-334-844-4983) if you will be arriving late.

Mandatory Orientation will be
held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 from
8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. in the
Student Center Ballroom.

Classes start May 17, 2012.

Orientation Resources
NEW & TRANSFER STUDENTS (F & J)
* Read the following carefully. Applies to all F and J visa holders:

The International Education Welcome Orientation and Check-In are mandatory for all
new and transfer international students.
-
At orientation you will receive valuable information about Insurance,
Driver's Licenses, Keeping your Status and other important details. Check-In
should occur within 5 days of arrival in the United States. You will be able to apply for a Social Security Number and fill out necessary employment documents if you have an assistantship.

All new and transfer international students must bring their
passport, I-94, I-20/DS-2019 and any other immigration documents to
Check-In at 228 Foy Hall between the first day of arrival to Auburn University and the first day of school.

Full time enrollment (Graduate Students 9 semester credit hours, Undergraduate students - 12 semester credit hours): anything less requires written permission each semester prior
to registration or dropping courses below these hours. Please check with OIE for further information

For the
Social Security Card Application, you
must have employment verification letters
verifying your status and eligibility
for employment from your department (on the department's
letterhead), and from the Office of International Education
before you can participate in the application sessions. Someone will be on hand at Check-In and Orientation, to assist with Social
Security applications. You will need to be inside the U.S.A. a minimum of 10 days before you are allowed to apply for a number.
For this reason, it is very important that you arrive in the
USA at least 10 days prior to August 7, 2012.
