Making
the choice to study abroad does not come easily. Change
is inevitably difficult for anyone, and moving half way
across the globe means making a lot of sacrifices.
Leaving behind friends, family, apartments, and familiar
surroundings can be difficult, and before I departed I
was nervously wondering if I had made the right
decision. Fortunately, studying abroad was the BEST
decision I ever made. When reading the pre-departure
literature it sounds corny, but studying abroad really
does changes your life.
Living any extended period in a foreign
country cannot be compared to a week’s vacation on a
riverboat cruise down the Seine. One becomes totally
immersed in the foreign culture and quickly adapts to a
new strange, marvelous way of life. Meeting and mingling
with other foreign and international students opens your
eyes to the world and teaches you just how different
life is in other parts of the world, not to mention
giving you contacts in all corners of the globe.
The curriculum at IPAG is one the best, professional,
and intimate programs I have ever experience. The
classes are small and the teachers are always willing to
give extra help or advice, related to school or life
abroad. Occasionally my classes would take us into the
old city and we would study finance while sipping a café
in an open air market, my teacher always just nearby
ready to lend a hand. The administration could not have
been more helpful. Their open door policy allows
students walk in anytime that they have a question about
anything. They practically hold your hand, if necessary,
during the first few weeks to make sure that you are
settling in with your new apartment, bank accounts,
utilities, phone, etc.
Studying abroad in Nice has forever changed me and those
experiences will be with me forever. The opportunity to
travel and see the world will never again be presented
to me in such a way, before the stress of a job and
family life begins. I would recommend the program to
anyone who is considering going abroad and hope that
they can learn and mature as much as I did. Bon Voyage.
