Jared Larson, Spring 2009 London School of Economics
|
When I first came to Auburn, studying abroad was the last thing on my mind. All I wanted to do was go to football games in the fall and travel to see all my friends around the country in the spring. However, as I grew older and my tastes began to change, I realized that I wanted to see more of the world and experience the customs and culture of another country. During my Junior year, I decided that I was going to study abroad and attended the study abroad fair in the Haley Building. I weighed out the pros and cons to see what I would gain from the experience and easily decided that it would be a great thing to do. Unfortunately for me, I was so far along the path in my major that I was forced to choose a school where I could fulfill my economic and financial obligations. I luckily found the London School of
Economics and couldn’t have been happier with my choice.
I was able to stay in the heart of London and truly experience a city full of diversity. While it was only for 6 weeks, I met friends that I will have for a life time and was able to experience one of the greatest cities in the world on a day to day basis. It has changed the way that I see the world around me and the way that I appreciate my home country. My advice would be to travel as much as you can! Things are very accessible in Europe and you should see as much of the continent as possible - it is truly home to some of the most beautiful views on earth! It is an experience that I wouldn’t trade for the world and I would certainly recommend it to anyone!
