Financial Aid

Financial aid can be used in most cases. Contact the Student Financial Aid Office at (334) 844-4634 for information.

  • All Financial Aid paperwork should be filled out before students leave campus. Since applications for financial aid for the following semester may be due while the student is away, students should make arrangements to ensure a seamless financial transition.
  • Federal Financial Aid cannot be issued more than 10 days prior to the beginning of the semester on the Auburn campus. Some grants and loans are applied to the student’s Bursar account, while others are disbursed in the form of a check. Make sure you know how you will be receiving yours and when!
  • If you are receiving financial aid, any changes to your program, such as withdrawals or even extensions need to be discussed.
  • If students don’t complete the contracted amount of course work while abroad, Financial Aid may require them to pay it back immediately!

Financial aid is disbursed at the start of each semester, except summer. Check with financial aid for loan options. Parent loans may be available. Students must submit their Auburn Abroad Course Approval Form as part of any financial aid request.

Scholarships
Scholarships may be used to help fund programs abroad. Contact the specific scholarship advisor or issuing offices to verify requirements. University Scholarship Office Phone: (334) 844-7570.

The student's scholarship advisor should be informed to ensure that funds are disbursed to their account to cover the program abroad fee.

Additional resources for getting student scholarships:
Dr. Paul Harris, who is located in the Honors College and is Director of National Prestigious Scholarships, may be able to help students obtain a scholarship.

PACT
PACT (Alabama Pre-paid Tuition) can be used to help fund your Study Abroad experience. It pays tuition and fees, but not airfare, housing or meals. PACT pays for study abroad program fees at the same rate as courses on–campus. Funds are disbursed after the start of the semester that the student is abroad so students will pay for program fees before they receive their PACT funding. In order to use PACT funding for an abroad program, you must complete a PACT Certification Form and turn it in to Auburn Abroad.

NOTE: The PACT Certification Form has moved. You will be asked to indicate whether or not you are a PACT recipient after you have been accepted into your program. You will be given the form during this time to complete if you wish to receive PACT funding for your Study Abroad Program. Auburn Abroad submits all completed PACT paperwork to the Alabama PACT office.
