Cuban Diplomat, Writer and Educator to Visit Auburn Nov. 16

The Office of International Programs is pleased to host Dr. Carlos Alugaray Treto Nov. 16 for a dinner and lecture titled "Cuba and the United States: What Kind of Leadership for Change?"

Treto studied at the International Division of Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan, and at the University of Havana. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Diplomacy and History of Cuba; a Master's degree in Contemporary History; and a Ph.D. in Historical Sciences, all from the University of Havana. His Ph.D. dissertation was on the Eisenhower Administration's policy towards the Cuban Revolution 1958-1961. Treto servced as a foreign service officer for Cuba in multiple countries and now lectures internationally on international affairs.

The dinner and lecture are by invitation only for members of the Auburn community with a demonstrated interest in Cuba; however, interested parties can contact Jenn Mason, director of international initiatives, for an invitation on a space-available basis.
