New Mentoring Program Helps Students Explore Options Abroad

Auburn students who are curious about living and working abroad but don’t know where to start now have somewhere to turn. The Auburn International Mentoring program, launching fall 2015, will pair students of sophomore or higher status with an Auburn alumnus living overseas for a one-year mentorship.

The AIM Program, administered by the Office of International Programs, provides a channel for students to globalize their career options as well as a way for international alumni to participate in the life of their alma mater. Student mentees are required to “meet” for a one-on-one conversation with their mentors at least once per months. Students will also be required to attend monthly professional development programs.

Student applicants from all majors are welcome. The program is competitive, and applicants selected to advance through the process will be required to interview before final selections are made. Applications for the 2015 program are due Sept. 1. A general interest meeting will be held Aug. 25 in the Foy Hall Lobby from 5 to 6 p.m. Dinner will be served, and interested students will have the opportunity to ask questions about the program.
