India Fest Tailgate to Highlight Music, Dance, Food Oct. 3

To kick off the Year of India, the Office of International Programs will present the India Fest tailgate Oct. 3. The event will open at 12:30 p.m. at the corner of Mell St. and Roosevelt Dr. Free and open to the public, India Fest will offer guests the opportunity to sample a variety of Indian dishes. The Auburn University Indian Music Ensemble will provide live music, and visiting dancers will demonstrate classical dance styles from different regions of the country.

The Year of India will continue with the Indian Student Association's celebrations of major Indian festivals such as Diwali, the Festival of Lights, and Holi, the Festival of Colors. In February, OIP will host Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mohandas Gandhi, who will present a lecture titled "Lessons Learned from My Grandfather: Non-Violence in a Violent World." OIP will also partner with the Auburn University Cricket Club for Cricket on Cater, an introduction to the rules and traditions of one of India's favorite sports.
