The Office of International Programs and the Brazil Center will host a panel titled Brazil's Historic Political Upheaval: Context and Lessons Thursday, April 28 at 6 p.m. in Student Center room 2216. The event is free and open to the public.

Brazil's president Dilma Rousseff faces impeachment over charges of manipulating government accounts while the Latin American country reels from an economic crisis. José Vasconcelos, associate professor of civil engineering, and Geraldo de Souza, professor of mathematics and statistics, both originally from Brazil, will provide context on the political history of Brazil and the steps that will be followed throughout the impeachment process. James Barth, Lowder Eminent Scholar in Finance, will discuss what impeachment could mean for the U.S. and the global financial scenario.
