It is with great disappointment that the Auburn University Office of International Programs has decided to cancel the 2020 International Perspectives on University Teaching and Learning Symposium due to the global spread of COVID-19, Coronavirus. IPUTL 2020 was originally scheduled for June 3-5 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in Orlando, FL. The symposium will be rescheduled for summer 2021, and all presenters accepted for IPUTL 2020 are automatically invited to present in 2021instead. Our team will provide updates and details on IPUTL 2021 as soon as possible.
All registrants for IPUTL 2020 will be automatically provided a full refund to the credit card used in the original payment transaction. Refunds will be processed in the coming week, and a confirmation email will be sent upon completion. Please allow 3-5 business days for the refund to post to your account. For an exact timeline, please check with your bank.
For those who have already booked their hotel stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, please call 407-939-4686 to either cancel or receive new reservation rules that apply should you choose to keep your hotel reservation despite the event cancellation.
The IPUTL team did not come to this decision lightly, but feel it is imperative to place the health and safety of our team and registrants above all else. All necessary personnel were consulted before making an official decision. We would like to apologize for any disruption this may cause, and if there is anything we can do to ease concerns, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you to those who registered for IPUTL 2020 and to everyone for sharing our vision for internationalization in higher education. As previously mentioned, we are working with the venue to reschedule the symposium for 2021, so be on the lookout for updated information on the IPUTL website and social media pages (Facebook & Twitter).
Presenters are invited to submit a proposal for an article to be published in a special issue of the journal New Directions for Teaching and Learning titled “International Perspectives on University Teaching and Learning”. This issue will be edited by the Symposium organizers and will include 10 – 15 selected articles. Submission details will be presented at the Symposium.
The Conversation Starter is a Symposium publication dedicated to showcasing the diverse collection of essays about internationalization research, programming initiatives at institutions around the world and thought pieces about higher education in a global context. Essays are submitted by Symposium attendees, and used to facilitate discussions at the IPUTL Conversation Starter Roundtable sessions.
A sampling of essays included in the Conversation Starter publication given with the 2018 IPUTL check-in packet. Please feel free to review these pieces for a peek into some of the discussions from the 2018 Conversation Starter Roundtable.
Once finalized, Conversation Starter essays will be available here for review prior to IPUTL 2020.
