The IEP offers 25 hours of intensive English language training per week as follows:
A Core Course (2 hours daily) consists of instruction in English grammar, writing, and oral communication skills. Topics in American culture are covered in the Reading and Vocabulary class, which meets every day for one hour. A Listening/speaking class meets daily for one hour to practice English conversation skills and to reinforce the content of the Reading Course. Interviewing, small group discussions, role plays, and debates are included.
A TOEFL preparation class meets one hour every day to improve students' test-taking skills.
The class schedule is as follows:
Class Hours:
9:00 – 10:50: Core skills –speaking, writing, and grammar (Monday – Friday)
11:00 – 11:50: TOEFL Preparation (Monday – Friday); this class is not required
1:00 – 3:15: Listening/Speaking (Monday & Wednesday)
1:00 – 3:15: Reading/Vocabulary (Tuesday & Thursday)
