The IEP offers 23 hours per week of intensive English language instruction at 5 levels of proficiency. Each level meets according to the following schedule:
|Grammar/Writing:||9:00 – 10:50 a.m. (Monday – Friday)|
|TOEFL Preparation (not required):||11:00 – 11:50 a.m. (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)|
|Reading/Vocabulary: ||1:00 – 1:50 p.m. (Monday & Wednesday); |
12:30 – 1:45 p.m. (Tuesday & Thursday)
|Listening/Speaking: || 2:00 – 2:50 p.m. (Monday& Wednesday); |
2:00 – 3:15 p.m. (Tuesday & Thursday)
The program uses a communicative teaching approach, in which students learn through authentic language tasks such as conducting interviews and completing projects and reports. Class size is normally 12 – 15 students. Classes are held throughout the year. Each term is 8 weeks, but each level of the curriculum is 16 weeks (although some students may complete a level sooner).
The IEP is designed for students ages 18 and up. English programs for students in Kindergarten through 9th grade are available through the Summer English School.
