IEP Courses

The IEP offers 23 hours per week of intensive English language instruction at 5 levels of proficiency. Each level meets according to the following schedule:

Grammar/Writing: 9:00 – 10:50 a.m. (Monday – Friday)
TOEFL Preparation (not required): 11:00 – 11:50 a.m. (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
Reading/Vocabulary:
1:00 – 1:50 p.m. (Monday & Wednesday);
12:30 – 1:45 p.m. (Tuesday & Thursday)
Listening/Speaking:
2:00 – 2:50 p.m. (Monday& Wednesday);
2:00 – 3:15 p.m. (Tuesday & Thursday)


The program uses a communicative teaching approach, in which students learn through authentic language tasks such as conducting interviews and completing projects and reports. Class size is normally 12 – 15 students. Classes are held throughout the year. Each term is 8 weeks, but each level of the curriculum is 16 weeks (although some students may complete a level sooner).

The IEP is designed for students ages 18 and up. English programs for students in Kindergarten through 9th grade are available through the Summer English School.
