International Buddy Program

What is the International Buddy Program?

This program provides a way for international and local students to form meaningful same-gender friendships with one another. The program will facilitate smooth transitions into student life in Auburn and help students become integrated on campus and into the local community.

Why are International Buddies important?

Local buddies not only aid the social transition for international students, but also help them experience American culture. Friendships increase students' motivation to become fluent in the English language and provide natural settings for engaging in conversation and daily activities.

What is the commitment?

This program begins in September and ends in May., but we accept applications throughout the year. The commitment during the year is to spend face-to-face time with your buddy at least twice a month and stay in contact via email, phone, or text. At the end of each semester you will be asked to evaluate your experience via an electronic survey.
