Course Description: Oral Proficiency in English for International Students is offered each fall during the academic year and is open to graduate and undergraduate students as well as visiting scholars and exchange students. It meets three times per week.

Course Description: Classroom Communication Skills for International Teaching Assistants is a course designed to improve the classroom communication and teaching skills of International Teaching Assistants (ITAs). It is also open to visiting scholars with teaching assignments. The course provides instruction in classroom language skills, cultural issues, and teaching techniques. Students are videotaped several times during the semester presenting mini-lectures from their own fields. Each student then meets individually with the instructor to review the videotape for analysis and feedback. This course is offered during the fall and spring semesters and meets twice a week for a total of three hours.

SPRING:

• Instructor: Staff

Course Description: This course meets three hours per week and is offered every spring for both undergraduate and graduate students who wish to improve their written communication skills. Students will learn to conduct research, organize and support their ideas, and revise their writing. While the course does not (for graduate students) focus specifically on writing theses or dissertations, it provides instruction in the skills necessary to complete these academic assignments.
