Step 1. - Attend an Orientation Session

Thursdays at 3:00 p.m. and Fridays at 11:00 a.m. in 242 Foy Hall
Orientation Sessions are designed to help you navigate the process of selecting and applying to a study abroad program. These meetings will give you an opportunity to speak with an Auburn Abroad coordinator or intern about specific questions that you may have in the preliminary planning stages for study abroad.

Step 4. - Plan Your Academic Experience

Study abroad should not delay your track to graduation. With proper planning, students can find programs that will incorporate classes to fit directly within your plan of study. Using the academic information given by your program provider, students should be in close contact with their academic advisor(s) and department(s) to determine course equivalencies.

Step 5. - Consider Your Finances

Early in your program planning, you should complete a Budget Estimate Planning Worksheet as part of your Auburn Abroad Online Application. Step 7. - Get A Step Ahead

Prepare for Departure
There are multiple items that need to be completed after you begin an application until you depart for your destination. You should log in to your Auburn Abroad Online Application frequently to keep abreast of all current information. Research your program location and take the proper Pre-Departure precautions to ensure safety.
Plan to Maintain Contact While Abroad
It is extremely important that you maintain contact with Auburn University as well as your family and friends while you are abroad. This will help you deal with any stress of culture shock and also keep you informed of anything important that is happening at home. Before returning to Auburn, check with your academic advisor to see if there are any actions that you need to complete. Enjoy your experience abroad!
Prepare for the Return to Auburn
Verify that all transcripts have been received and processed by the Auburn Abroad Office from your academic program abroad. There is often no reminder to do this, so students should be aware of their transcript status as much as possible. This step is very important if you are graduating immediately following your program abroad. Get involved with Auburn Abroad and Global Tiger Peer Advisory to share your experience! If you enjoyed study abroad, consider participating on another international adventure!
