Dr. Hye Jeong Kim obtained her master’s degree from The Ohio State University and doctoral degree from Iowa State University with majors in consumer sciences and clothing and textiles and a minor in quantitative psychology.

Dr. Kim’s research interests focus on consumer behavior and online shopping and social networking, the use of e-commerce and social network sites among small businesses, and experiential marketing. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of consumer decision making, retail management, visual merchandising, and merchandising portfolio.

Dr. Kim has developed a multicourse-multicultural collaborative project and students exchange development project, funded by 2011 AU Faculty Grant Program International Collaborative Teaching Grants. The multicourse-multicultural collaborative project involved Auburn students as well as faculty and students in two different South Korean universities.

Using Facebook as a venue, the project provided students in both countries with an opportunity to be exposed to another culture and broaden their perspectives to a global level. In addition, Auburn University – Seoul National University (South Korea) study tour exchange project as part of the student exchange development project provided students with an opportunity to build networks with future professionals in the global retail industry.
