Florida native Patrick Elliott's appreciation of the South's unique, natural communities blossomed during his early years spent in the Big Scrub of Central Florida. Upon moving to Tallahassee, Patrick truly began to appreciate the beauty and complexity of the local "High Pine" Longleaf Pine Forest. Aside from being an incredibly talented artist, Patrick is a very skilled naturalist; especially in the fields of botany and herpotology. Today Patrick is considered by many as one of the most highly skilled artists of natural history in the southeast. Much of his work can be seen on museum murals from South Carolina to Louisiana or above the mantel pieces in many natural lover's homes. However, you must search carefully for his signature on these works of art. Among the many things that Patrick is, one thing he is not is conceited. Patrick takes great care to research and perfect his craft. Aside from the wonderful "ecosystem print" Patrick painted for the Longleaf Alliance, he is also responsible for the incredibly detailed pictures created for the educational background information on longleaf pine forests. In fact, the text we've tried to write to accompany this background information does not do justice to the detail of his drawings.
