Biodiversity and Carbon Sequestration
This project is being conducted in conjunction with the SERDP project that will develop tools for ecological forestry and carbon management in longleaf pine. Carbon pools in the shrub and ground cover layers will be examined in stands ranging in age from 5 to 90 years and related to biodiversity indices as well as to forest structure, microenvironment and management history. Relationships between biodiversity and ecophysiological traits will be explored. The study is located on Fort Benning in Georgia.
