DEPARTMENT OF VOCATIONAL AND ADULT EDUCATION

AUBURN UNIVERSITY

POSITION: Assistant or Associate Professor, Technology Education and/or Trade and Industrial Education

DESCRIPTION OF THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Vocational and Adult Education offers degree programs from the undergraduate through the doctoral level. Areas of emphasis include: Adult Education, Agribusiness Education, Business Education, Marketing Education, Home Economics Education, Technology Education, and Trade and Industrial Education.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:


The appointment will involve:

  1. conducting research and development activities in vocational and adult education and contributing to the mission and activities of the College of Education,
  2. teaching, recruiting, and advising undergraduate and graduate students,
  3. carrying out extension and public service activities,
  4. developing and securing contracts and grants,
  5. working cooperatively with the State Department of Education, related agencies, and related business and industry groups, and
  6. advising student organizations.


SELECTION CRITERIA:

I. Academic Preparation:

Earned doctorate within the field of Vocational/Occupational/Workforce Education with an emphasis in Technology Education and/or Trade and Industrial Education at the pre-doctoral levels that will meet state teacher certification requirements

. II. Required Professional Experience and Performance:

Successful teaching experience in Technology Education and/or Trade and Industrial Education at the comprehensive high school or area vocational-technical school

Successful vocational teacher education experience at the college/university level

Sufficient scholarly productivity to achieve graduate faculty credentialing status

Demonstrated success in seeking external funding

History of providing service to the field

III. Preferred Qualifications:

ACADEMIC RANK: Assistant or Associate Professor

SALARY: Dependent upon qualifications

APPOINTMENT: Nine-month tenure-track position beginning fall quarter, September 16, 1996

Social Security (cost of each of above shared by Auburn University); and sick leave

Recent graduates should send an abstract of their doctoral dissertation.
