Programs in Adult Education
The Adult Education program at all levels emphasizes life/work context in:
- a. exposing students to the wide array of cirmcustances (intents, environments, ages,
etc.) for faciliating adult learning;
- b. focusing students on a specific context and congruent role competencies. All
undergraduate students complete University core coureswork and an adult education
composite. Each student focuses on one of six areas of specialization (technical agriculture,
marketing education, health systems education, human science, technical education, or
training and conference education which includes:
- a required career core (coures focusing on the area of specialization work context)
plus
- career support/focus coursework (advisor-approved, applied electives) and
- adult vocational competencies (elected, applied departmental courses addressing adult
helping/change agent skills, practicum, work experience and/or independent
study).
As seniors, majors complete a one-quarter, full-time, on-the-job internship in a work setting
befitting their area of specialization.
