- With the exception of one person, Ronald Reagan, the personalization of political leadership coarsened the political process. Those who would try to lead fell under the white hot light of media attention.
- By the end of the 80’s the political landscape was marked by: a divided government; gridlock; increased attention to image; decreased attention to issues; decline in civic engagement; and metamorphosis of politicians into celebrities.
