CHANGE OF MAJOR AFTER ADMISSION TO TEACHER
EDUCATION
- Report to 3464 HC to complete a Change of Major form.
- Receive assignment of a new advisor.
- Schedule an interview with your new advisor. Request that
your folder be prepared and sent to the new advisor.
- Report to department for interview when scheduled.
Notification of acceptance/nonacceptance will be mailed to you, to
your advisor, and will be placed in your permanent folder.
A Change of Major form will be sent if you are accepted into the
requested program.
If you are not accepted, you will remain in your former program.
SELECTION OF INTERNSHIP SITE
- Complete your Application for Professional Internship.
- Indicate the 3 sites within 60 miles of Auburn University
where you would like to be an intern.
Note: The Teacher Education Services Office will attempt to
follow your advisor's recommendation of a site for your
internship. Students are given equal consideration in
making placements.
- Prepare to assume the responsibilities associated with being
a full-time intern.
The College of Education will assume the costs for your supervision
within a 60-mile radius of Auburn. You must be prepared to be
responsible for providing your own transportation during this
period.
Interns are expected to devote a full quarter (10 weeks - 300
clock hours minimum) to the internship.
PETITIONS
- Obtain a Petition Form from 3464 HC if you wish to be granted
an exception to any normal procedure. These include taking an
examination at a time different from the scheduled hour; taking
course work in excess of 20 hours; interning at a site farther
than 60 miles from Auburn University; breaking Senior residency.
- Complete the petition and obtain the signature of your advisor
and your department head.
- Submit your petition to the Teacher Education Services Office
for further consideration for the final decision regarding
your petition.
- Contact Teacher Education Services Office for the final decision
regarding your petition.
SUBSTITUTIONS
- Obtain a Course Substitution Form from the department secretary
or the Teacher Education Services Office.
- Have your advisor complete the form.
- Obtain department head's approval.
- Submit signed Course Substitution Form to the Teacher Education
Services Office (3464 HC) for final approval.
- A copy of the form with the decision of the Certification Officer
will be placed in your permanent file.
CERTIFICATION
You will be given the forms and information necessary to apply for your teacher's
certificate at the Orientation Session your internship quarter. Any questions you have
regarding obtaining certification should be directed to the Teacher Certification
Evaluator in the Teacher Education Services Office.
TRANSIENT WORK
Once a student enrolls in a program of study in the College of Education and wishes to
take a course away from Auburn University he/she must secure permission to do so.
The procedure is as follows:
- Secure a Transient Form from 3464 Haley Center.
- Fill in all information requested on the form.
- Get the form signed by a Teacher Education Services Evaluator.
- Get the form signed by the Department Head.
- Get the form signed by the Associate Dean.
