Technical Tips

As you become familiar with the SENCES website and use it to access your course materials you may (or may not) run into technical difficulties. Addressed here are some of the more common problems. If you cannot troubleshoot using these tips, please feel free to email or call Dawn Browning at:

Auburn University Office of Information Technology (OIT) also has excellent support for AU access and technology issues.

OIT helpdesk

At some point you will be prompted to enter your Auburn University "OIT ID" and password to access materials or email. We will provide you with your inital password and login information, but if you forget it at any point during your program please contact the OIT helpdesk.

Class materials will be posted in a variety of formats and you will need the appropriate software to access them. Below are some links for downloads and reference.

Adobe Acrobat Reader
FREE! and necessary to download and read pdf files. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html

We usually use Microsoft Office for word processing and such, so if we send you text attachments they will most likely be in MSWord. You may see PowerPoint presentations posted. Clicking the link to such a presentation will either open up a PowerPoint session on your computer (provided you have PowerPoint), or prompt you to save the file to your computer. You can then start PowerPoint and open the file. PowerPoint comes with the MSOffice suite or you can download the free PowerPoint viewer from the Microsoft website.

RealOne Player
FREE! and recommended to view videos. If the linked icon above does not take you to a download information box, try http://www.real.com . Navigate to find the FREE RealOne Player (not the "free trial" version).

Finally, as an Auburn student, you have access to a vast amount of information on the AU website. For example -- explore the library on-line!
