| Job Seeking/Job
Retention Website
by Susan Goff Abstract A website was developed for the agency's disabled clients so they would be able to access job search information and other specialized information. Susan incorporated accessible design for those with low reading skills and for visually impaired users. The goal was to design a site that would not only give consumers important information, but would help them gain competence with computerized job search skills and would reinforce job readiness skills. Counselors were asked to complete a survey that would help identify essential elements for the website: what links were important, what skills, what colors, interview skills, etc., as well as their thoughts on the overall design. A survey was also sent to consumers asking about their comfort level with using the internet, computer competency, and what they would find most helpful in a job related website for their use. The website was designed and built based on what consumers wanted and what agency representatives felt would serve consumers well. Developed as a class requirement for the Academic Certificate Program in Community Employment Services: all rights reserved. for
