Program
by Sherry P. Dixon Abstract The Career Tracking Program was implemented for those individuals who had not been successful in gaining employment. Participants in the Career Tracking Program meet every two (2) weeks, for an eight (8) hour session. The session usually lasts for one (1) day, but depending on the number of participants and employment-related issues that need to be addressed, the session may last for two (2) days. The participants is the session are given a self-assessment tool to complete, then a discussion takes place regarding issues that may or have posed barriers to employment. Also is the session, topics such as personal appearance (i. e., clothing and grooming), locating employment resources, making a good impression while being interviewed, coping with different type of job interviews settings, and filling out job applications properly are addressed in the session. Participants will have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) developed for their benefit and participants are required to complete a Career Tracking Log Sheet, which should list when and where they made their job contacts. In the event that a participant had not found employment within two (2) weeks, the participant will meet again with the Career Tracking Program coordinator/facilitator to discuss possible revisions of the IEP.
