RSED 4973 - Job Development and Placement

Directions: This exam does not require the supervision of your proctor. You are welcome to use any written materials you wish and you are encouraged to cite references; however, please do not discuss your questions or responses with others. The responses should be typed in 12 point font and double-spaced. The answers need not be lengthy (usually, 2-3 paragraphs will suffice); however, make sure to answer all  parts of each question. Submit your exam by e-mail attachment to sences@auburn.edu by April 19, 2004.

1. In your opinion, what are the five most significant competencies (i.e., knowledge, skills, abilities, attitudes, etc.) an accomplished job developer must possess? Be specific and tell why you feel these five are most important.

2. Many of the job development gurus advise us to “seek out objections” from employers and “beg for complaints” from them. What is the reasoning behind this advise? (Cite specific models or authors.) Are you comfortable with using this suggestion when dealing with employers? Why or why not?

3. Describe your personal job development style, including the methods and models you employ to facilitate employment for people with disabilities. (If you don’t currently provide job development services, make some predictions about the style you would likely adopt.)
