FINAL EXAMINATION
Directions: The responses should be typed in 12 point font and double-spaced. The answers need not be lengthy (usually, 2-3 paragraphs will suffice); however, you should take care that you answer all parts of each question. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 has been referred to as the first civil rights act for people with disabilities. Discuss key changes in values which paved the way for the passage of the ADA. 2. Describe the impact of rehabilitation legislation on the area of employment services. Include at least three specific pieces of legislation. 3. Providing person-centered or consumer-driven services requires knowledge of individuals and organizations. What advice might you give a rehabilitation professional to promote this service approach in his or her organization? (Hint: Holding person-centered planning meetings is one example of taking a person-centered/consumer-driven approach.) 4. Describe an application of person-centered planning. Include who is involved, how the services are determined, and how the process is evaluated. 5. Explain the concept of multicultural competency. What are the essential components and how would you apply them? 6. Describe utilization of the social security system by a client whom you serve. Be specific in describing the client's disability* and which social security services would be utilized by this client (*exclude confidential, identifying information). |
