John White, Greenville, NC

I am an Air Force veteran (and hope to stay that way unless duty calls) spending time in Texas, New Jersey, and West Germany.  I was stationed in West Germany when The Cold War ended. After the military, I attended East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.  I received my BS degree in Family and Community Resources in 1995.  My first job with the State of NC was as a Substance Abuse Counselor/Case Manager for the Perinatal Program (pregnant substance abusers and mothers with infants less
than one year of age.) I was a substance abuse counselor for a little over three years, with my last full year strictly in counseling.  This was a learning experience to say the least. I started working for Vocational Rehabilitation in 1998 as a Work Adjustment
Instructor for the Vocational Rehabilitation Facility in Goldsboro, NC. I had so many jobs there my e-mail would look like bulk mail if I spelled them out for you. In July 2000, I started working for the VR Unit Office in Greenville, NC as a Community Employment Specialist until the Federal Grant funding ended in October last year. That was scary! Luckily, a position was
available and I started as the Human Resource Placement Specialist in December of 2000. I have been in this position since and I love my job!

Otherwise, I love East Carolina Football (Pirates), Carolina Basketball, and sports in general.  I root for Auburn now! I will say this and finish, Auburn University is an extremely beautiful campus. One of the cleanest I have ever seen. I look forward to returning in February.

Go Pirates!  Tigers too!
