I
was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up mostly on the Canadian Prairies.
When I was 21 I moved to Oregon and spent 12 years there, in part attending
the University of Oregon. My major, and academic love, is the field of
Geography - specifically cultural geography and biogeography. I received
my bachelor's (B.S.) - after many detours - from Auburn University
in 1999. My educational endeavors since then have related more to my work
here - design, and issues relating to providing education by distance.
Through my work, I have been able to travel all around the Southeast to
meet many of our students in their hometowns.
I have lived in Auburn, Alabama since 1991 and have been working at Auburn University in the Department of Rehabilitation and Special Education since 1993. My role here has evolved from office administration to working with our distance education programs as administrative and technical support. The 'funnest' part of my job is designing webpages for the programs. The 'best' and most rewarding part is meeting distance learners (and traditional students) from all around the country and getting to know them as they achieve, often with a struggle, their own goals. My husband and I will celebrate our 14th 'official' anniversary this year. We have three children - girls 16 and 12, and a son, 10. We also have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a bunch of fish. We all love spending time together and sticking close to home! (i.e.: boring!) rev08/04 |
