Dr. David Shannon is a Professor in the Department of Educational Foundations, Leadership, and Technology. He joined the faculty after receiving his Ph.D. in Educational Research Methodology and Statistics from the University of Virginia in 1990.
Dr. Shannon teaches graduate courses in measurement, evaluation, and statistics. Dr. Shannon's areas of research include student and teacher assessment, teacher effectiveness, and research methodology issues. He has published in journals such as the Journal of Personnel Evaluation in Education, Journal of Educational Research, Journal of Experimental Education, and Journal of Higher Education. He has also published a book entitled "Using SPSS to Solve Statistical Problems" with Merrill/Prentice Hall and is currently working of an intermediate statistics text. Dr. Shannon currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Eastern Educational Research Association (EERA) and the editorial boards for the Journal of Research in Education and New Directions for Educational Reform.
