Welcome to the East Alabama Regional Inservice Center (EARIC) web site. EARIC is
one of eleven regional in-service centers established by the Alabama Legislature in 1984
to enhance the training opportunities for public school personnel in critical need areas.
The concept and mandate for the centers are to provide rigorous in-service training for
teachers, superintendents, principals, and local board of education members.
The East Alabama Regional Inservice Center serves approximately 4,377 educators in 15
systems (Alexander City, Auburn City, Barbour County, Bullock County, Chambers
County, Elmore County, Eufaula City, Lanett City, Opelika City, Phenix City, Russell
County, Tallapoosa County, Tallassee City).
EARIC’s Governing Board is comprised of teachers, school administrators, higher
education representatives, an Alabama State Department representative, and a lay citizen.
The Board members represent each school district, set policy, approve staff development
programs, ensure accountability, and provide guidance to ensure that EARIC’s efforts are
aligned with local school district needs.
The web site is designed to highlight available in-service sessions, special events, and
instructional resources available through EARIC as well as other programs in the region,
Auburn University, and state agencies.
