NATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL

Members of the 1999-2000 National Advisory Council

The College of Education National Advisory Council is a network of alumni and friends who believe in enhancing and promoting the mission of the College. The lives of these exemplary volunteers epitomize the characteristics found in well-rounded citizens and educators of the state and nation.

Through membership on the Advisory Council, these people carry forth the banner of the University by providing visibility and service to the educational mission of the College of Education.

The College of Education Advisory Council is a network of distinguished alumni and friends who promote and support Auburn University through their personal success and spirit of volunteering. The Advisory Council is a wonderfully diverse group of people who reflect the breadth of education and are models in their community.

Graduates and friends of the College are eligible to serve as leaders of the College on the Advisory Council. They are proven intellectuals, visionaries and philanthropists who share a sound educational background and an appreciation for the field of education.

Advocates - Advisory Council members will become the best-informed, best linked alumni and friends of the College. They are uniquely positioned to enhance the image of the University and speak intelligently about its many programs.

Innovators - Advisory Council members provide ideas and promote change for the College. As visionaries who see things that can be, they promote Auburn's flagship status by participating actively in the strategic planning and review of the College's research, instruction and outreach missions.

Role Models - Advisory Council members are invited to return to campus for departmental seminars, career fairs, and student and faculty panel sessions. They enjoy interaction with high school and college students, knowing that these are the leaders of tomorrow. They may host student activities, attend local events on behalf of the College, and represent Auburn University at local college fairs.

Communicators - Advisory Council members provide news and information for publications: marriages, births, promotions, deaths. By communicating with alumni in their area, they report alumni concerns and suggest alumni activities. If there is an active alumni group in their area, they may serve on an alumni board.

Philanthropists - Advisory Council members work as volunteers, generously donating their time and talents to support the College. They support the College through annual giving programs and many participate in major giving initiatives, such as establishing named endowments. Members may join in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition of other donors.

A proven leadership record and a sincere appreciation for the mission of Auburn University's College of Education.

But most important the Advisory Council members know their efforts help the College in measurable, meaningful ways. And for their help, they receive the unending appreciation of grateful students, faculty, staff and an even more grateful alma mater!
