At the end of the first week of the academic year, the 2019-2020 College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM) Leaders enjoyed their first weekend together as a group.

“It was a great experience to be part of the annual COSAM Leaders retreat,” shared Dr. Robert Boyd. “I am excited to support this outstanding group of students that give so much of their time throughout the year helping at numerous events.”

The students, who were interviewed and selected during the spring semester, played team-building games, learned about COSAM, and received guidance with presentations from Dr. Stewart Schneller and Dr. Larry Wit.

“When the COSAM Leaders were created in 1999-2000, the intention was to provide our college with student ambassadors,” explained Dr. Stewart Schneller. “Part of that plan was for them to have ownership in and bond to Auburn University and COSAM. To provide a foundation for this, it was important that the Leaders had knowledge of the history of Auburn University, how/why COSAM came into existence in 1986, and how it has evolved since.  Thus, I have regularly participated in the evening of their annual retreat.”
