The Auburn Department of Physics is hosting a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program this summer! Students will spend the summer on campus at Auburn University pursuing independent research projects under the mentorship of Auburn faculty. Students will be supported by a competitive stipend and housed on campus in university dormitories. In addition to research work, participants will take part in weekly diversions, seminars, and activities in the Auburn community to make the summer a memorable one.  We will begin reviewing applications in April. You can find a description of the possible research projects here. To learn more about research in our department, visit this link.

List of Research Topics

To apply, students should send:

  • a resume;
  • a statement of research interests addressing which projects you may be interested in pursuing and why this REU would help you achieve your long term goals (no more than one page);
  • an unofficial undergraduate transcript;

to: PhysicsREU@auburn.edu. A letter of reference from a faculty member at your undergraduate institution addressing your work ethic, academic performance, and interest in science is also required. These are confidential and may be submitted directly to the same address by the faculty member. Students do not need to wait for the reference letter to be submitted to send in their part of the application, but should request that the letters be sent as soon as possible.
