Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowships in Honors Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Auburn University invites applications for 12-month Non-Tenure- Track Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowships to begin September 15, 2012.  The Postdoctoral position is subject to renewal based on satisfactory performance and funding, for up to four years maximum. Successful candidates will assist in the instruction of CHEM 1117 (Honors General Chemistry I) and its associated laboratories in the Fall semester and CHEM 1127 (Honors General Chemistry II) and its associated laboratories in the spring semester.

The fellowships are open to individuals who will have completed all requirements for their Ph.D. degree no later than August 15, 2012.  The candidate must demonstrate experience and proficiency in undergraduate teaching, effective writing and interpersonal communication skills, and possess appropriate experience that will contribute to general studies content of the honors chemistry courses.  Applications from candidates with strong background and record of achievement in teaching chemistry are particularly welcome.

Teaching duties will include development and incorporation of new laboratory modules, leading laboratory discussion sections, and the supervision of graduate teaching assistants both Fall and Spring semesters.  Fellows may also have the opportunity to design an independent Honors laboratory manual.

Review of applications will begin August 15, 2012.  Annual salary range is $40,000-$50,000.

Faculty Position - Organic or Organometallic Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track, nine-month position in either organic or organometallic chemistry at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. Auburn University is one of the nation's premier land, sea, and space grant institutions. The successful candidate is expected to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program. Duties will also include teaching organic chemistry at the undergraduate level and either organic or organometallic chemistry at the graduate level. A Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field and at least one year of postdoctoral experience are required. The candidate selected for this position must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States on the date the appointment is scheduled to begin (August 2013) and must be able to continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
