The Library Media program prepares students for positions as school library media specialists who are teachers, information specialists, instructional partners, and school library program administrators and leaders. The program’s curriculum is based on principles and practices of information science, instructional design, instructional technology, educational leadership, learning theory, and curriculum. Successful completion of the program leads to library media certification.
Accreditation and Approvals
Auburn University holds regional accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Auburn University’s College of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The master’s and specialist programs in Library Media are approved by the Alabama State Board of Education. In addition, the State of Alabama signs the National Association of State Directors of Education and Certification (NASDTEC) Interstate Agreement which facilitates the applications of graduates when they apply for certification in other states.
