The Counseling Psychology program offers curriculum built on a framework referred to as the "Scientist-Practitioner" model, wherein emphasis is placed on the integration of the science and practice of counseling psychology. The required curriculum includes a full-time, one-year, pre-doctoral internship. Graduates of the counseling psychology program are generally employed in the direct delivery of psychological services in such settings as college and university counseling centers and Veterans Administration hospitals. Successful fulfillment of all requirements of the Counseling Psychology program results in a Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) degree.
Accreditations
Auburn University holds regional accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The doctoral program in Counseling Psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
