The English for Speakers of Other Languages program prepares individuals for teaching in K-12 settings. The program includes course work in curriculum development and teaching methods, evaluation of teaching and learning, and identification and utilization of technological resources. Graduates are also required to complete an internship which provides practical application related to English for Speakers of Other Languages Education.
Accreditation and Approval
Auburn University holds regional accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Auburn University’s College of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The master’s program in English for Speakers of Other Languages is approved by the Alabama State Board of Education. In addition, the State of Alabama signs the National Association of State Directors of Education and Certification (NASDTEC) Interstate Agreement which facilitates the applications of graduates when they apply for certification in other states.
