English Language Arts Education

The English Language Arts program centers on teaching English as principled practice. The program emphasizes understanding rhetoric and composition; understanding language variation and language standardization; teaching creative writing; and teaching canonical, multicultural, and Young Adult literature. English Language Arts Education at Auburn University collaborates with colleagues across the college to create coherence across students' professional coursework. 

Accreditation and Approvals

Auburn University holds regional accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Auburn University’s College of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The bachelor’s, master’s, and specialist programs in English Language Arts Education are approved by the Alabama State Board of Education. In addition, the State of Alabama signs the National Association of State Directors of Education and Certification (NASDTEC) Interstate Agreement which facilitates the applications of graduates when they apply for certification in other states.
